Government Supports Students with Back to School Initiative

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations joined learners and teachers at Tsime Primary School for a Back to School celebration aimed at supporting vulnerable students. The event also marked the birthday of the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, adding a personal dimension to the initiative. A total of 19 primary schools and six high schools received school supplies and essential materials to ensure students are prepared for the 2026 academic year. The initiative focused on encouraging learners to remain motivated and dedicated to their studies while fostering a culture of giving within the community.

During the event, the Minister emphasized the critical role of education in national development, calling on learners to work hard, maintain discipline, and pursue excellence in all their efforts. He highlighted government initiatives designed to strengthen the education sector and ensure students have access to the resources they need. Teachers and school administrators expressed appreciation for the support, noting that well-equipped learners are more likely to succeed academically. The initiative also reinforced community engagement by involving local leaders and volunteers in the distribution of materials. By combining resources and commitment, the program aims to create a sustainable impact on student performance and overall educational outcomes.

The Back to School celebration reflects a broader government strategy to invest in the future of Basotho children. By addressing gaps in educational resources, the program helps reduce barriers that might prevent students from achieving their full potential. The event also served to inspire students, showing them that their education is a priority for both their families and the government. Through initiatives like this, the Ministry seeks to cultivate a generation of learners prepared to contribute meaningfully to the country’s social and economic development. Continued support and engagement are expected to strengthen the partnership between schools, communities, and government, ensuring that education remains a central pillar of national progress.
