Official Visit of South Africa’s Deputy Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture to Lesotho

The Honourable Deputy Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture of the Republic of South Africa, Ms Peace Mabe, is currently on an official visit to the Kingdom of Lesotho. The visit highlights the commitment of both countries to strengthen bilateral relations in the fields of sports, arts, and culture. Earlier today, Deputy Minister Mabe paid a courtesy call to the Right Honourable Prime Minister, Ntsokoane Samuel Matekane, at the State House in Maseru, reinforcing diplomatic ties and mutual cooperation.

Following the meeting with the Prime Minister, Deputy Minister Mabe joined the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture of Lesotho for a bilateral discussion. The session focused on identifying opportunities for collaboration in sports development, cultural exchange programs, and arts promotion. Both ministers emphasized the importance of leveraging shared cultural heritage to promote regional tourism and community development initiatives.

Later in the day, the delegation visited Thaba Bosiu Cultural Village, a key landmark showcasing Lesotho’s rich cultural history. They were warmly received with traditional performances, demonstrating the vibrancy of Basotho culture. The ministers shared lunch, allowing for informal dialogue and further strengthening of the relationship between the two nations.

This official visit marks a significant step in enhancing cooperation between South Africa and Lesotho in sports, arts, and cultural sectors.
