New travel restrictions imposed on arrivals from Southern Africa: Jordan

The National Centre for Security and Crisis Management on Sunday announced additional precautionary measures to stop the spread of new coronavirus variants in the Kingdom, specifically the Omicron variant.

A set of restrictions were placed on individuals who resided in South Africa, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, and Botswana during the 14 days preceding their travel to the Kingdom.

In regard to Jordanians and their immediate family (husbands, wives, and children) arriving from the aforementioned countries, they are allowed to travel to the Kingdom through Queen Alia International Airport only and according to the following restrictions:

– Register on the www.gateway2jordan.gov.jo platform

– Possess a negative PCR test within 72 hours prior to travel to the Kingdom, with the exception of children under the age of five

– Conduct a PCR test at Queen Alia International Airport upon arrival, with the exception of children under the age of five

– Sign an institutional quarantine pledge presented by the counter employee at the departure airport

– Prepay the value of the institutional quarantine before staying at the Queen Alia International Airport Hotel for a period of 14 days

In regard to non-Jordanians, they are not allowed to travel to the Kingdom if they stay in one of the aforementioned countries during the 14 days preceding their travel to the Kingdom.

Travellers will also bear legal responsibility in the event of providing misleading or false information, in addition to paying a fine of JD10,000.
