UAT Leader Dr. Mahali Phamotse Launches M1 Million Sponsorship for B Division Soccer Teams

The Leader of United Africans Transformation (UAT), Dr. Mahali Phamotse, has unveiled a sponsorship package worth over M1 million for B Division soccer teams across Lesotho.
The package will benefit teams from all 10 districts, with each district receiving eight soccer kits, two free driver’s licenses, M10,000 in cash, championship trophies, and training on lightning safety to protect players during matches and practice sessions.
Dr. Phamotse said the sponsorship is designed to empower young people and improve Lesotho’s football performance.
“Soccer is our identity. A country that performs poorly in football risks being invisible on the world stage. This support is meant to ensure our players are not just participants, but strong competitors,” she said.
She added that political will is key in uplifting the sport, noting that quality playing facilities are vital for raising standards and preparing players for both local and international competitions.
The sponsorship marks one of the largest investments in grassroots football in recent years, signaling a strong commitment to youth development and sports excellence in Lesotho.
