Advocate Salemane Phafane Re-elected as President of Lesotho Football Association
Advocate Salemane Phafane has successfully retained his position as the President of the Lesotho Football Association (LEFA) following the elections held over the weekend. Phafane, who has been at the helm of the association, was re-elected during the sixth Congress of LEFA, securing the top leadership role for another term.
Phafane’s victory was not only a reaffirmation of his leadership but also solidified the trust and confidence placed in him by the football community in Lesotho. Alongside him, Mr. Matloko Mafantiri was elected as Vice-President, while Mr. Tebalo Mpiti was appointed as the second Vice-President. The Congress also saw the election of Messrs. Ts’eliso Ramatla, Ntainyane Marabe, Thabo Sephoko, Katiso Lebitsa, and Israel Mpiko as members of the Congress, further strengthening the governance of the association.
LEFA’s international standing remains strong, with the association being recognized globally by football’s governing bodies. It is an affiliate member of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA). Domestically, LEFA also enjoys recognition from the Lesotho Sport and Recreation Commission (LSRC) and the Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC).
In addition to his leadership role within LEFA, Advocate Phafane has garnered further respect on the international stage. He was appointed as a member of FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee during the 71st FIFA Congress, held at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, reinforcing his influence within global football governance.
Phafane’s re-election is seen as a significant milestone in Lesotho’s footballing history, with continued progress and stability under his leadership.
