Mathabo Duma
It is day 2 of the 2022 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders virtual summit and our fellows heard from Secretary of State Antony Blinken among other speakers at the summit. Today we focus on Mathabo Duma for our #YALILesotho2022 post.
Mathabo is a media and culture graduate and researcher, who found her passion in farming. Growing up, her family was very involved in agriculture, and has said that going into commercial farming was inevitable for her. She currently owns two greenhouses and has dreams of being a national supplier and eventually exporter of crops such as maize, tomatoes, green beans and spinach. Since 2020, she has diversified her portfolio to include dairy farming and is a proud owner of two cows that produce milk. She is an alumna of the YALI Regional Leadership Center Southern Africa, and the first participant from Lesotho to be selected as a keynote speaker to represent her cohort. Mathabo will conclude her fellowship at Purdue University under the Leadership in Business track.
