Lesotho Ambassador Presents Credentials to Cuban President and Reaffirms Bilateral Ties

On December 6, 2025, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to Cuba, Dr. Malehlanye Ralejoe, formally presented his Letters of Credence to His Excellency President Miguel Díaz-Canel in Havana. The ceremony marked the official start of Dr. Ralejoe’s diplomatic tenure in Cuba.
During the presentation, Ambassador Ralejoe conveyed warm greetings from His Majesty King Letsie III and the Right Honourable Prime Minister Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane. He reaffirmed Lesotho’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between the two nations and highlighted the importance of continued cooperation across multiple sectors.
Ambassador Ralejoe expressed gratitude for Cuba’s ongoing support, particularly in the education and training of Basotho medical professionals. The partnership has been instrumental in enhancing Lesotho’s healthcare sector by providing skilled personnel and specialized medical training.
Prior to the credential ceremony, Dr. Ralejoe met with Her Excellency Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss bilateral priorities and future collaborations. He also visited the Latin American School of Medicine (Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina – ELAM) and engaged with Basotho students currently studying in Cuba, reinforcing Lesotho’s commitment to the welfare and academic progress of its citizens abroad.
The diplomatic engagements underscore Lesotho’s dedication to maintaining strong relations with Cuba while advancing shared development goals in education, healthcare, and international cooperation.
