Lesotho Hosts National Bridging Workshop on One Health to Strengthen Multi-Sector Collaboration

The National Bridging Workshop for One Health in Lesotho has commenced, emphasizing collaboration and shared responsibility in managing health across human, animal, and environmental sectors.

During the first session, titled “One Health Concept & National Perspectives,” participants were introduced to the core principles of the One Health approach. This global framework integrates human, animal, and environmental health to address interconnected health threats. The session was led by a representative from the environmental sector, providing context on national priorities and challenges.

The workshop is organized in partnership with the quadripartite organizations: the World Health Organisation (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), and Lesotho’s Ministry of Health and Environment Programmes. The session aimed to build a shared understanding among participants on how multi-sectoral collaboration can enhance preparedness, prevention, and response to health risks.

By bringing together experts from different sectors, the workshop seeks to strengthen Lesotho’s capacity to address emerging and existing health threats, ensuring that human, animal, and environmental health systems work in a coordinated and effective manner.
