Lesotho Strengthens Diplomatic Ties with France as Ambassador Presents Credentials

On 1 September 2025, Her Excellency Mrs. Mafelile Molala presented her Letters of Credence to His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, in a formal ceremony held in Paris. This act officially marked H.E. Molala’s assumption of full diplomatic responsibilities as Ambassador of Lesotho to France, while she continues to reside in Berlin.
The presentation of credentials is a key diplomatic protocol that confirms an ambassador’s authority to represent their country. H.E. Molala’s accreditation reinforces Lesotho’s commitment to maintaining and deepening its relations with France.
Lesotho and France have maintained diplomatic relations since soon after Lesotho gained independence in 1966. Over the decades, both nations have collaborated in areas such as development, education, trade, and cultural exchange. H.E. Molala’s appointment is expected to further enhance bilateral cooperation, with a focus on strengthening economic partnerships and promoting Lesotho’s interests in Europe.
This milestone reflects Lesotho’s continued efforts to engage strategically with international partners, ensuring strong diplomatic representation and advancing national development objectives.
