Ministry of Public Works and Transport Implements Moshoeshoe I Airport Master Plan
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has decided to implement the Moshoeshoe I Airport Master Plan without hiring another consultant.
In an interview with Lesotho News Agency (LENA), Minister of Public Works and Transport Mr. Matjato Moteane addressed the progress of the airport’s master plan. He emphasized the need for a more cost-effective company to work on the master plan, replacing the previous consultant.
The Ministry has revised the concept note and set aside the previous study, based on advice from civil aviation experts. The International Civil Aviation Organization has also conducted an audit, and by the end of this financial year, the Ministry plans to maintain equipment used for traffic control and lighting.
Additionally, Mr. Moteane mentioned that starting in August this year, they will reconsider the current terminal building. Resurfacing the landing area will also be undertaken to accommodate larger airplanes.
“We aim to serve a broader market and reach other regional destinations,” he stressed.
