UNFPA Regional Director Meets Lesotho Deputy Prime Minister to Strengthen Strategic Collaboration

On 24 November 2025, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Regional Director for East and Southern Africa, Ms. Lydia Zigomo, paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Deputy Prime Minister of Lesotho, Justice Nthomeng Majara. This meeting is part of Ms. Zigomo’s official visit to Lesotho, scheduled from 23 to 27 November 2025.

The engagement aims to reinforce strategic collaboration between UNFPA and the Government of Lesotho. Discussions focused on aligning UNFPA’s initiatives with national development priorities, particularly in areas related to population, reproductive health, and social development.

During her visit, Ms. Zigomo will also meet with key government ministers, including those responsible for Gender, Youth and Social Development, Health, and Finance and Development Planning. These meetings will provide a platform to explore partnership opportunities and identify key areas where UNFPA can support Lesotho’s development agenda.

The visit underscores UNFPA’s commitment to supporting Lesotho in achieving sustainable development goals, promoting gender equality, and improving health outcomes for all citizens. It also highlights the importance of collaboration between international organizations and national governments in addressing regional and country-specific development challenges.
