Ministry of Education and Training Launches Joint Education Sector Review

The Ministry of Education and Training officially launched the Joint Education Sector Review (JESR) on Friday, 22 August 2025. The review is designed to assess the progress and results of the education sector in line with the 2016/2026 Education Sector Strategic Plan.
The JESR focuses on monitoring the implementation of key initiatives and policies using established sector performance indicators. It provides a structured framework to evaluate achievements, identify challenges, and propose corrective measures to improve educational outcomes.
By tracking sector progress, the JESR aims to ensure that national education goals are being met effectively. The review brings together policymakers, education practitioners, and stakeholders to facilitate evidence-based planning and decision-making.
The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving the quality of education, enhancing learning environments, and ensuring equitable access for all learners. It also strengthens accountability and transparency in the management of education resources.
The JESR is expected to produce a comprehensive report highlighting sector achievements, gaps, and strategic recommendations. These findings will guide future interventions, ensuring that the objectives of the 2016/2026 Education Sector Strategic Plan are fully realized.
Through regular monitoring and evaluation, the JESR will help the Ministry of Education and Training to align policies with practical outcomes, improve teaching and learning standards, and advance overall educational development in the country.
