H.E. Ntsiuoa Sekete Engages with Winner Foam Factory on Potential Production Facility in Lesotho

H.E. Ntsiuoa Sekete, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, recently met with representatives from Winner Foam Factory, a leading Ethiopian foam products manufacturer. The meeting focused on the company’s strong interest in establishing a production facility in Lesotho.

This engagement follows an earlier tour of Winner Foam Factory by Ambassador Sekete and a Lesotho delegation led by Hon. Thabo Mofosi, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition. The visit took place during the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) in Addis Ababa. It provided the delegation with detailed insights into Winner Foam’s modern production capacity, quality standards, and its potential role in supporting Lesotho’s industrial diversification efforts.

Winner Foam Factory has identified Lesotho as a strategic location for its regional expansion. The company highlighted several factors influencing this decision: Lesotho’s competitive investment climate, strategic access to markets within the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) and Southern African Development Community (SADC), and the availability of a young, trainable workforce.

The proposed production plant is expected to generate new employment opportunities, reduce Lesotho’s dependence on foam product imports, and facilitate technology transfer. Additionally, the facility aims to boost the Kingdom’s exports to regional markets, contributing to economic growth and industrial development.

This potential partnership aligns with Lesotho’s broader goals of economic diversification and industrial growth. Establishing a local foam manufacturing plant could strengthen the country’s manufacturing sector and improve its trade balance.
