SHE-HIVE Association’s Call to Action Against Domestic Violence

On Thursday, SHE-HIVE Association’s Operations and Programs Manager (OPM), Ms. Mamolise Harris, emphasized the urgent need for community engagement in addressing family violence during a public gathering at Taoana Square. The event, organized by the Urban Council, aimed to raise awareness about the Counter Domestic Violence Act 2022, a crucial legislative framework designed to combat domestic violence in society.

Ms. Harris passionately stated, “No one is immune to any act of family violence.” Her remarks resonate deeply in a society where domestic violence remains pervasive and often hidden. She urged individuals to speak out, highlighting that domestic violence is no longer a private issue, but a societal concern that affects everyone.

In her address, Ms. Harris pointed out that many individuals live in abusive family environments, whether through marital relationships or intimate partnerships. Unfortunately, numerous incidents go unreported, perpetuating a cycle of silence and suffering. “Our mandate is to raise awareness and educate the public about the Counter Domestic Violence Act 2022. We also aim to provide insights into the experiences of both victims and perpetrators,” she explained.

The SHE-HIVE Association plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of openness and support for those affected by domestic violence. Through their programs, they strive to create a safe space for individuals to share their experiences, seek help, and access resources that can aid in their recovery. Ms. Harris emphasized the importance of community involvement in breaking the stigma surrounding domestic violence, urging attendees to be vigilant and proactive in their neighborhoods.

The Counter Domestic Violence Act 2022 is a significant legislative step towards protecting victims and holding perpetrators accountable. Ms. Harris’s call to action serves as a reminder that collective effort is essential in addressing this critical issue. By raising awareness and encouraging open dialogue, the SHE-HIVE Association seeks to empower individuals to stand against domestic violence and support those in need.

As the gathering concluded, the message was clear: breaking the silence surrounding domestic violence requires courage from everyone in the community. With leaders like Ms. Mamolise Harris at the forefront, there is hope for a future where no one suffers in silence and where family violence is confronted with the seriousness it deserves.
