Lesotho’s High Commissioner Presents Credentials to King of Bhutan

H.E. Adv. Lebohang Valentine Mochaba, High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the Kingdom of Bhutan, resident in New Delhi, India, formally assumed her duties today by presenting her Letters of Credence to His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. This official ceremony marks a key milestone in the diplomatic engagement between Lesotho and Bhutan, reflecting the countries’ growing partnership. The establishment of diplomatic relations in 2024 under the leadership of His Majesty King Letsie III and His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck has laid the foundation for meaningful bilateral cooperation. The historic State Visit later that year further strengthened ties, demonstrating both nations’ commitment to mutual development and cultural exchange.
During the presentation, H.E. Adv. Mochaba conveyed warm greetings from His Majesty King Letsie III, reaffirming Lesotho’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation. She highlighted the importance of active and visible engagement between the two Kingdoms to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes. The High Commissioner expressed sincere appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended by the Royal Government and people of Bhutan. She emphasized that the diplomatic relationship will foster collaboration across areas of shared interest, including governance, culture, and sustainable development initiatives.
The ceremony underscores Lesotho’s strategic approach to expanding its diplomatic footprint in Asia while promoting constructive international partnerships. Both nations have signaled a strong intention to maintain open channels of communication and collaboration on economic, cultural, and environmental matters. The High Commissioner’s tenure is expected to advance joint initiatives and facilitate exchanges that strengthen mutual understanding and development.
As Bhutan marks the New Year on 18 February, the Kingdom of Lesotho extends its best wishes for peace, prosperity, and continued happiness to His Majesty the King and the people of Bhutan. This gesture reinforces the enduring friendship between the two countries and sets the stage for a new chapter of diplomatic engagement. The presentation of credentials marks the beginning of a proactive and results-oriented partnership aimed at promoting growth, cultural exchange, and regional collaboration.
