Lesotho Hosts SABC Delegation to Strengthen Regional Media and Development Partnerships

On January 29, 2026, the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Honourable Nthati Moorosi, received a courtesy call from Ms. Amanda Quwe, Regional Operations Manager of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), in Maseru. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in broadcasting, information sharing, and regional media collaboration.

The visit formed part of a wider programme by Ms. Quwe to engage key government and development institutions in Lesotho. She also met with the Minister of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police, Honourable Lebona Lephema, and the Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, Honourable Motlatsi Maqelepo. These engagements aimed to explore opportunities for joint initiatives and strengthen institutional partnerships.

Ms. Quwe further held meetings with the Lesotho National Broadcasting Service (LNBS), the Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC), and the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC). Discussions centred on promoting regional cooperation in media, tourism, and sustainable development projects. Officials explored avenues for collaborative content production, knowledge exchange, and joint promotional campaigns to boost both tourism and media outreach.

The engagement underscored the shared commitment of Lesotho and South Africa to fostering strong regional networks. By leveraging media and development partnerships, both countries aim to enhance information flow, promote cultural exchange, and support economic growth initiatives.
