AgroSel Farm Officially Launched at Ha-Toloane to Boost Employment and Food Security

AgroSel Farm was officially launched on Saturday at Ha-Toloane in Morija, marking a significant step towards promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development. The initiative aims to create employment opportunities, enhance local food production, and contribute to national food security.
Farm owner Ms Mookho Seleke revealed that AgroSel Farm has already employed 15 people, providing vital jobs within the community. She explained that while the farm’s official launch occurred this week, operations have been running digitally since May 2025 during its preparatory phase. Ms Seleke acknowledged the challenges faced in establishing the farm but expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved so far. She highlighted that the farm has recorded positive results in crop production, successfully cultivating cucumbers, cabbage, and beetroot.
Farm Manager Mr Tšeliso Mosili emphasized the team’s commitment to strengthening local food production and improving the quality of agricultural outputs. He noted that food production remains a critical national priority and that projects like AgroSel Farm play an important role in addressing food shortages.
Mr Mosili added that the farm’s objectives include producing high-quality crops to support domestic consumption and reduce Lesotho’s dependence on imported food. The initiative also aims to encourage local participation in agriculture and demonstrate farming as a viable and sustainable economic activity.
The launch of AgroSel Farm aligns with broader national efforts to advance agricultural development and improve food self-sufficiency in rural areas. By combining job creation, sustainable farming practices, and community engagement, AgroSel Farm sets a model for future agricultural initiatives in the region.
