Revenue Services Lesotho Hosts Northern Region Tax and Customs Symposium in Leribe

Yesterday, Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) convened a Tax and Customs Symposium for the Northern Region at Leribe. The event brought together key stakeholders from the Manufacturing and Retail sectors to foster dialogue, share insights, and strengthen collaboration.

The symposium featured a structured agenda designed to enhance understanding of critical tax and customs processes. Presentations included:

  • Overview and Online Registration for Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Status – Attendees were guided on the benefits of AEO certification, including faster customs processing and increased trade facilitation, along with step-by-step instructions for online registration.
  • Trade Agreements and Rules of Origin – Experts explained how trade agreements impact the movement of goods, and how Rules of Origin determine eligibility for preferential tariffs, improving business compliance and competitiveness.
  • Double Taxation Agreements – The session clarified agreements between Lesotho and other countries that prevent the same income from being taxed twice, supporting cross-border trade and investment.

RSL highlighted its commitment to strengthening partnerships and improving service delivery. By engaging directly with industry players, the organization aims to enhance compliance, facilitate trade, and contribute to a more prosperous Lesotho.
