Roma Community Welcomes Reconstruction of A5 Road and Extension to St. Joseph’s Hospital

Members of the Roma community have welcomed the reconstruction of the A5 road from St. Michael’s to Roma, including an extension leading to St. Joseph’s Hospital. The project comes after years of challenges navigating dilapidated roads that limited access to essential services.

Residents expressed relief and optimism about the improvements. Mrs. ‘Mamotena Makara stated that the road to St. Joseph’s Hospital has been particularly difficult for patients and those seeking medical attention. She said the reconstruction will make it significantly easier for the community to access health services and other essential facilities.

Mrs. Makara also acknowledged that the road development could affect some street vendors, but emphasized that Roma, as a peri-urban area, requires infrastructure improvements. She highlighted that accessible roads are vital for overall community development and the efficient delivery of services.

The reconstruction of the A5 road is expected to enhance mobility, reduce travel times, and support economic activities within Roma. Community members are optimistic that the project will improve living conditions, strengthen connectivity, and contribute to broader regional development.
