The Principal Secretary of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation recently met with Development Planning officials to discuss strategies for digital transformation with a focus on skills development. The meeting emphasized building the digital capacity of the workforce to support national growth and innovation.
The Ministry is collaborating with private sector partners to design a clear roadmap for digital transformation. This partnership aims to align government initiatives with industry needs, ensuring that digital skills development meets market demand.
Mr. Kanono Ramashamole highlighted that the discussions with Development Planning officials included securing industrial certification, sponsorship opportunities, and accelerating the implementation of digital projects. The collaboration seeks to provide workers and students with practical skills and recognized qualifications that strengthen Lesotho’s digital economy.
The Ministry confirmed that similar meetings will be held quarterly to monitor progress, review strategies, and maintain momentum in digital transformation initiatives. This structured approach is intended to ensure continuous improvement and long-term impact.
By prioritizing skills development and partnering with the private sector, Lesotho aims to create a workforce equipped to drive digital innovation, attract investment, and strengthen the country’s position in the regional technology landscape.
