Standard Lesotho Bank Sponsors LUCSA to Promote Youth Sports and Development

Standard Lesotho Bank (SLB) has announced a partnership with the Lesotho Universities and Colleges Sports Association (LUCSA) through a sponsorship worth M240,000 over two years. The agreement reinforces the Bank’s commitment to empowering young people and supporting initiatives that promote sports development.
LUCSA, a consortium of local universities and colleges, was established to address social challenges faced by students entering higher learning institutions. Advisory members note that some students engage in risky behaviours, including substance abuse and unsafe relationships, which can lead to unplanned pregnancies and academic dropouts. LUCSA provides a structured platform for youth to channel their energy into sports and leadership development programmes that encourage focus on studies and future aspirations.
With the support from SLB, LUCSA will continue to offer platforms for youth participation, leadership growth, and holistic development. The association’s final games are scheduled this weekend at the Lesotho College of Education (LCE) and Bambatha Ts’ita Sports Arena, highlighting the peak of the sporting calendar.
Speaking on the partnership, Manyathela Kheleli, Brand and Marketing Manager at Standard Lesotho Bank, said: “At Standard Lesotho Bank, we strongly believe that young people are the heartbeat of our nation. By partnering with LUCSA, we are supporting academic and sporting excellence while nurturing future leaders to redefine their futures and thrive.”
SLB remains a major supporter of youth development and community upliftment in Lesotho. Kheleli emphasized that the Bank’s contribution demonstrates dedication to building a brighter future by investing in education, wellness, and sports as key drivers of positive change.
“Through partnerships such as this, the Bank continues to drive meaningful impact and build a society where young people are empowered to succeed,” he added.
The collaboration between SLB and LUCSA reflects a growing commitment to creating opportunities for young people to excel in sports, leadership, and personal development across Lesotho.
