As part of his official visit to Lesotho, the Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Mr. Jagan Chapagain, was received by His Majesty King Letsie III at the Royal Palace yesterday.
The audience provided an opportunity to discuss humanitarian priorities, disaster preparedness, and resilience-building efforts in Lesotho and the broader Southern African region. Mr. Chapagain commended Lesotho’s commitment to strengthening community-based disaster response systems and enhancing cooperation with the Red Cross.
His Majesty King Letsie III acknowledged the important role of the IFRC in supporting vulnerable communities, particularly in times of natural disasters and public health emergencies. He reaffirmed Lesotho’s support for ongoing humanitarian partnerships aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting sustainable development.
Mr. Chapagain’s visit underscores the IFRC’s commitment to working closely with national societies and governments to address humanitarian challenges, improve disaster readiness, and expand relief efforts where they are most needed.
