District Nutrition Teams to Attend National Food and Nutrition Strategy Meeting in Quthing

Members of district nutrition teams across Lesotho will attend a three-day meeting on the dissemination of the National Food and Nutrition Strategic Document. The event is scheduled to take place in Upper Moyeni, Quthing, starting Tuesday next week.
The meeting is organized by the Food and Nutrition Coordinating Office (FNCO) and aims to inform participants about the strategy’s goals and implementation plan. It will also foster collaboration among stakeholders to ensure effective execution of the national nutrition agenda.
District Nutritionist Mrs. Matseko Ts’eole explained that the meeting will cover the mandate and roles of both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition. Presentations will include the current nutrition status in the country and an overview of the Lesotho Food and Nutrition Strategy.
Key topics on the agenda include the zero hunger strategic review, food fortification and iodization initiatives, the national food security policy, and the Cost of Hunger Africa study specific to Lesotho. Sessions on advocacy, social behaviour change, and communication strategies will also be part of the discussions.
The event aims to strengthen coordination among districts, improve understanding of national nutrition priorities, and support the successful implementation of policies that address food security and nutrition challenges in Lesotho.
