Revenue Services Lesotho Launches Mobile Offices to Improve Nationwide Access

In a bold move to enhance service delivery and make tax services more accessible to every Mosotho, Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) has officially launched mobile offices that will operate across the country. The initiative was unveiled during a launch event held on Friday, where RSL Commissioner General ‘Mathabo Mokoko reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to investing in people, technology, and inclusive service delivery.

“In doing this job, we want to make sure our services are accessible to everyone,” said Mokoko. She emphasized that RSL’s overarching goal is to simplify the tax process for individuals, businesses, and investors, making tax compliance not only easier but also more appealing. According to her, tax services must be user-friendly to encourage voluntary compliance and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The mobile office units are designed to close the gap between RSL and underserved communities, especially those who struggle to reach fixed service centers. Mokoko explained that the new mobile initiative was driven by numerous concerns raised by taxpayers about the difficulty of accessing services in remote areas.

“These mobile units will travel throughout the country to ensure broader access,” she added. The mobile offices are fully equipped to handle a comprehensive range of services and will bring convenience, efficiency, and digital integration to communities that have long been underserved.

Among the key services offered by the mobile units are several digital tools from RSL’s growing suite of e-services:

  • eTax – for electronic taxpayer registration, filing, and management
  • eTCC – for easy and instant access to electronic Tax Clearance Certificates
  • eVAT 11 – for streamlining VAT processes
  • ePayments – for secure and seamless tax payment options
  • eFiling – for submitting tax returns accurately and on time

This mobile office initiative marks a significant step in RSL’s ongoing digital transformation and aligns with its broader goal of modernizing tax administration. The integration of mobile services with digital platforms ensures that more citizens can engage with RSL services conveniently and confidently.

With these new mobile units set to travel the length and breadth of Lesotho, RSL aims to bring services closer to the people, improve voluntary tax compliance, and support the country’s long-term economic growth.
