Lesotho’s Labour Minister Tséliso Mokhosi Represents Nation at 2025 Job Creation Summit in Addis Ababa

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr. Tséliso Mokhosi, is representing the Kingdom of Lesotho at the 2025 Job Creation Summit taking place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The summit, which runs until Wednesday, brings together leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the continent to discuss innovative strategies for sustainable employment.
Held under the theme “Advancing Job Creation and Economic Resilience through Regional Integration, Digital and Financial Inclusion along Agricultural Value Chains in the AfCFTW Market”, the summit aims to explore how Africa can harness its collective potential to generate more jobs and drive inclusive economic growth.
In his inaugural remarks, Mr. Mokhosi spoke on Lesotho’s commitment to transforming its labour market through skills development and entrepreneurship. He noted that empowering youth and upskilling the workforce is central to the country’s approach to reducing unemployment and building long-term economic resilience.
He further outlined Lesotho’s current initiatives aimed at expanding access to employment opportunities. These include increasing the number of technical and vocational education institutions across the country and encouraging public-private partnerships that support innovation, training, and job creation.
“Our focus is to create a labour framework that prepares Basotho for the demands of the modern economy. We are strengthening our institutions and investing in practical skills and entrepreneurship as key drivers of employment,” he said.
Minister Mokhosi’s presence at the summit underlines Lesotho’s dedication to regional collaboration in addressing unemployment, particularly through integration into the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The summit also provides a platform for the country to learn from regional best practices and position itself for greater participation in Africa’s evolving labour and trade landscapes.
As discussions continue, Lesotho’s delegation is expected to contribute insights and forge partnerships that will support national and regional job creation efforts in the years to come.
