Funiwe Dlamini to Host Inaugural “Mamas and Mimosas” Brunch Celebrating Motherhood in Style

Event organiser and professional caterer Funiwe Dlamini is preparing to host the first-ever Mamas and Mimosas brunch on June 29, 2025—a one-of-a-kind gathering aimed at honouring and supporting mothers in an uplifting, stylish setting. With tickets priced at M350, the event promises a refreshing, intimate experience at the picturesque Monono Guesthouse.

The inspiration behind Mamas and Mimosas stems from Dlamini’s personal journey through pregnancy, childbirth, and the realities of motherhood. Speaking to theReporter, she shared her motivation to create a space where mothers can truly feel seen, heard, and celebrated.

“This is the first time I’m hosting Mamas and Mimosas. I wanted to create a space where mothers can connect, share, and just take a break,” she said.

Describing the venue as “beautiful and feminine,” Dlamini emphasized her commitment to crafting an atmosphere that speaks to what she lovingly calls her “beautiful mommies.” The decision to keep the event small and personal is intentional, aimed at encouraging honest conversations and genuine connections among attendees.

At the core of the event is the recognition that motherhood, while fulfilling, can also be incredibly isolating. Dlamini hopes to address that by creating a supportive network that bridges experience and empathy. She believes that through shared stories and expert insights, mothers can find strength and community.

“Motherhood and pregnancy can be such a lonely time in a woman’s life. There’s so much happening at once. This brunch is about coming together, sharing knowledge, and just letting our hair down. Moms need that kind of break,” she explained.

The brunch will feature an engaging lineup of entertainment and discussions, tackling key topics like postpartum depression, intimacy after childbirth, breastfeeding support, and more. Experts including gynaecologists, lactation consultants, and experienced mothers will be present to provide guidance and relatable insights.

Adding to the experience, guests can expect a vibrant mix of ice-breakers, music, dancing, and a curated brunch menu personally overseen by Dlamini herself. Known for her flair in the kitchen, she promises a delightful spread tailored to diverse tastes and dietary needs, all topped off with the event’s signature beverage—mimosas.

“I know exactly what I want the brunch to look like. At the risk of blowing my own horn, the food is going to be amazing,” she said with pride.

Attendance for the event will be limited to maintain its intimate tone and ensure a comfortable, welcoming environment. While there are currently no official sponsors or partners, Dlamini is open to collaborations in the future as the event gains momentum.

Her message to mothers considering attending is heartfelt and simple: “Hey mommy, you deserve a break. I know it, you know it. Come unwind with like-minded mommies. You are not alone.”

Looking ahead, Dlamini sees Mamas and Mimosas evolving into something bigger. With strong early interest and positive feedback, she is optimistic about the future.

“Moms have been wanting something like this; they feel seen,” she said. “I see this growing bigger and better. Eventually, we’ll host it more than once a year.”
