Qacha’s Nek Primary Schools Celebrate Moshoeshoe’s Day with Traditional Dance Competition

Qacha’s Nek Primary schools marked Moshoeshoe’s Day with a spirited cultural competition that saw 24 schools competing in the finals. This was the second phase of the competition following the six-resource competition at the district level.
The event showcased eight traditional dances, including Ndlamu for both boys and girls, Tšipho, Moqoqopelo, Mokhibo, Litolobonya, Mohobelo, and Liphotha. The performances highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the Basotho people, bringing vibrancy and excitement to the celebrations.
Parliamentary candidate for Qacha’s Nek No. 69, Mr. Mohlahlobi Busa, alongside other local candidates, sponsored the competition by purchasing gold, silver, and bronze trophies to reward outstanding performances.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Busa emphasized the importance of cultural education among young learners.
“My interest is to ensure that students are well informed about their culture. We still hope to provide more education on cultural heritage,” he stated.
The competition not only celebrated the legacy of Moshoeshoe I but also encouraged young Basotho to take pride in their traditions and preserve them for future generations.
