LENAFU Partners with Global Organizations to Educate Farmers on Agribusiness

The Lesotho National Farmers Union (LENAFU), in collaboration with the World Food Programme, Adaptation Fund, and IACOV, recently held a workshop aimed at educating farmers’ associations on the concept of agribusiness. The initiative sought to equip farmers with essential business skills to enhance their productivity and profitability.

Mr. Lehlohonolo Khomo, a facilitator from LENAFU, highlighted that agribusiness is a broad field, but the workshop primarily focused on key areas such as marketing agricultural produce, costing, pricing, writing proper business plans, basic bookkeeping, entrepreneurship skills, and good agricultural practices.

Khomo emphasized the importance of understanding the business aspect of farming, stating that it is essential for farmers to integrate both agricultural production and business management to ensure the growth and sustainability of their enterprises.

The workshop aimed to empower farmers with the knowledge necessary to maximize their yields while also making informed financial and managerial decisions. By strengthening their business acumen, farmers can improve market access, enhance profitability, and contribute to the overall development of Lesotho’s agricultural sector.
