AfDB President Meets Lesotho Prime Minister to Strengthen Development Ties

As part of his official tour in Lesotho, the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane. This visit followed his earlier meeting with King Letsie III on Monday, further solidifying the Bank’s commitment to supporting Lesotho’s development initiatives.

In an interview with the media, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mr. Lejone Mpotjoane, emphasized the significance of these high-level engagements. He stated that the presence of Dr. Adesina and other heads of development partners in Lesotho demonstrates the growing interest of international institutions in aiding the country’s economic progress.

Mr. Mpotjoane further noted that such visits reflect the country’s improving governance and stability, which are key factors in attracting investment and development support. He highlighted that through continued collaboration with development partners, the government aims to enhance production capabilities across various sectors, ultimately leading to increased employment opportunities and economic growth.

The meeting between Dr. Adesina and Prime Minister Matekane is expected to pave the way for strengthened cooperation between Lesotho and the AfDB, fostering more projects aimed at infrastructure development, economic resilience, and social progress.
