World Vision Lesotho Supports Phelisanong Centre for Disabled with School Uniforms
In response to the Ministry of Education’s Back to School campaign, World Vision Lesotho (WVL) on Monday donated school uniforms to the children at Phelisanong Centre for Disabled in Pitseng, Leribe. The donation, which included school shirts and trousers, aimed to support and motivate the children in their educational journey.
Speaking in an interview with the agency, WVL Leribe Cluster Manager, Mr. Motlatsi Nketsi, explained that the event was designed to inspire the children and encourage them to pursue their education. “The purpose of this event was to motivate and inspire the children into education,” said Nketsi. He also emphasized that the initiative was a demonstration of WVL’s care for the pupils, ensuring they have the necessary resources to feel confident as they attend school.
The event followed up on efforts made during a similar occasion held with UNICEF at the same centre last year. Nketsi explained that WVL had made a follow-up on how it could continue supporting the centre and its pupils. As part of this commitment, the organization provided school shirts for all disabled girls and shirts and trousers for all disabled boys. The uniforms were distributed to children in Grade One, Two, and Three, ensuring that the youngest learners were also included in the initiative.
This act of kindness not only provided the children with essential school attire but also helped to foster a sense of inclusion and belonging, reinforcing the importance of education for all, regardless of their physical challenges. WVL’s donation is an example of the broader efforts to ensure that children with disabilities have access to education and the necessary support to succeed.
Through these continued initiatives, World Vision Lesotho demonstrates its ongoing commitment to empowering vulnerable children and fostering a brighter future through education. The partnership with UNICEF and other stakeholders is crucial in bringing attention to the needs of children with disabilities and in making a lasting impact on their lives.
