Some stakeholders in basic education gathered this week at the district department of education hall to receive information on the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) Basic Education Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Policy of 2024. The one-day meeting aimed to disseminate key details of the policy and its impact on the education sector.
During the event, the ICT Education Inspector from the Ministry, Mr. Kapane Mosothoane, delivered a presentation on the policy. He emphasized that it is designed to guide the integration of technology in basic education, covering Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), primary, and secondary education in Lesotho. He outlined that the policy seeks to improve access to information technology in all schools, enhance the curriculum, foster skill development, and provide teachers with the necessary support to ensure successful implementation.
Mr. Mosothoane highlighted that the initiative is inclusive, ensuring that all schools, including those in hard-to-reach areas and institutions catering to people with disabilities, will receive the necessary support for effective ICT integration. The policy aims to bridge the digital divide by making technology accessible to all learners, regardless of their geographical or socio-economic backgrounds.
The meeting provided an opportunity for education stakeholders to engage with the policy and discuss its practical implementation. The adoption of ICT in basic education is expected to transform learning experiences and equip students with digital skills essential for the modern world.”Stakeholders Engage on MOET’s 2024 Basic Education ICT Policy Implementation”
