Members of the community in the Malingoaneng Constituency have expressed their commitment to maintaining the gravel road between Ntsupe and Matsoku, Ha Meno, in an effort to improve accessibility and ease transportation challenges.
Speaking during a public gathering held at Nqechane in Matsoku, Mokhotlong, on Thursday, community representative Mr. Khotso Ts’oeu highlighted the urgent need for road maintenance, stating that poor road conditions remain one of their biggest challenges.
He emphasized that residents are ready to take action and repair the road to ensure smoother and faster travel, especially for those commuting to Mapholaneng for business purposes. “We are prepared to maintain the road so that we can travel with ease and reach Mapholaneng on time to conduct our businesses,” he said.
Mr. Ts’oeu also noted that previous efforts to improve the road through the ‘Tsoha o Iketsetse’ project, implemented under the Disaster Management Authority (DMA), were disrupted by heavy rains, which damaged the road and reversed their progress.
Despite these setbacks, the community remains determined to find sustainable solutions to their infrastructure challenges. Their commitment reflects a strong sense of self-reliance and cooperation, which is crucial for rural development.
With support from relevant authorities and organizations, the maintenance of the Ntsupe-Matsoku road could significantly improve the quality of life for residents, boosting local businesses and enhancing access to essential services.
