Everlasting Nutrition Club Promotes Food Diversification with Fruit Production Projects
In a bid to promote food diversification and enhance local agricultural practices, the Everlasting Nutrition Club of Sebetia, located in the Mosalemane constituency, has launched an exciting new initiative focused on fruit production.
Ms. Rets’elisitsoe Likotsi, the Treasurer of the Everlasting Nutrition Club, shared details of the project during an interview on Thursday, emphasizing the club’s commitment to improving food security in the region.
Enhancing Fruit Production
As part of its strategy to boost fruit production, the club has established an orchard with 180 hybrid peach trees. Ms. Likotsi mentioned that the club’s members are currently focused on maintaining and nurturing the trees, with their major task next week being the removal of weeds around the peach trees to ensure their healthy growth.
This initiative is part of the club’s broader effort to diversify local food sources and empower the community with sustainable agricultural practices.
Upcoming Apple Tree Deliveries
In addition to the peach trees, Ms. Likotsi revealed that the club is awaiting the delivery of apple trees, which are set to arrive before the end of the month. The addition of apple trees will further expand the club’s efforts to introduce a variety of fruit crops to the community, enhancing both nutrition and income opportunities for local residents.
