Police Intensify Crime Prevention Efforts During Festive Season
As the festive season gets underway, police in Mokhotlong District are stepping up efforts to ensure public safety by increasing their presence in villages and towns. Senior Superintendent Leabua Shale of Mokhotlong Police Station announced that deployment will begin on Monday and continue until January 10, 2025.
To address crime more effectively, police satellites will be established in key villages identified as hotspots. These include Tlhanyaku, Sanqebethu, Ha Moeketsane, Linakaneng, Matsoku, Khubelu, Molikaliko, and Pae-la-Itlhatsoa. These locations have been selected based on crime patterns observed during past festive seasons.
“Our goal is to ensure the safety of all residents and visitors during this time. We encourage the public to report suspicious activities and assist in maintaining order in their respective areas,” said Senior Superintendent Shale.
He further urged communities to collaborate with the police in the fight against crime, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and cooperation, not only during the festive season but beyond.
The increased police presence aims to deter criminal activities such as theft, assault, and drunken disorderly conduct, which tend to spike during the holidays. Residents are encouraged to remain cautious, especially in crowded areas and during community gatherings, to help maintain a safe and joyous festive season for everyone.
The police are calling on the public to share responsibility in creating a secure environment, fostering unity in the fight against crime, and making Mokhotlong a safer place to celebrate the season.
