Dismissal of Professor Nqosa Mahao from Cabinet Draws Public Attention
The recent dismissal of Professor Nqosa Mahao, leader of the Basotho Action Party (BAP), from his position as Minister of Energy has generated significant public interest. However, the Prime Minister’s office has assured citizens that the government remains unaffected by this development.
Speaking on the matter, Mr. Teboho Sekata, Public Relations Manager in the Prime Minister’s office, emphasized that the coalition government is stable and capable of continuing its operations without disruption. He noted that BAP’s inclusion in the coalition was not born out of necessity but as an act of goodwill.
“BAP joined the government out of love, not because we lacked the numbers,” Mr. Sekata explained. “I call upon Basotho to remain calm; the government is stable and will continue without fear.”
Professor Mahao’s dismissal has raised questions about the future of BAP’s role within the coalition and its potential impact on Lesotho’s political landscape. While no specific reasons for his dismissal have been disclosed, political analysts speculate that internal disagreements may have played a role.
Despite the dismissal, the Prime Minister’s office reassures Basotho that the coalition’s functionality and governance will proceed as planned. The government urges citizens to focus on nation-building and trust in its ability to deliver on its mandate.
This incident highlights the dynamics within coalition politics and underscores the need for clear communication and cooperation among political partners to ensure stability and progress in Lesotho.
