Concerned Parents Campaign to Host Soccer Clinics and Legends Matches to Combat Youth Drug Abuse
The Concerned Parents Campaign (CPC) is set to host a series of exciting events aimed at keeping youth away from the streets and helping them find inspiration to stay away from drug and substance abuse. On December 27 and 28, the campaign will feature soccer clinics and legends matches, with the goal of engaging young people in positive activities and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Advocate Lineo Liphoto, one of the CPC Directors, shared details of the events, highlighting that Saturday will be packed with a drama performance by South African (SA) actors at Pitso Ground. The storyline of the performance will focus on the struggles children face as they are lured into drugs by drug lords and even their peers. The aim of the drama is to raise awareness and spark conversations about the dangers of drug abuse, as well as the importance of making positive choices.
In addition to the drama, there will be a boot camp centered on sports psychology. This session will provide valuable insights on how young athletes can build mental resilience, stay focused, and overcome challenges both on and off the field. The boot camp will offer participants practical tools to boost their performance and mindset in sports.
Advocate Liphoto also emphasized that while soccer will be the primary focus of the events, young people interested in other sports codes, such as rugby, are also welcome to join. The CPC is committed to fostering a love for sports and providing alternative avenues for youth to channel their energy in productive and healthy ways.
This initiative is part of CPC’s broader efforts to help combat the growing issue of youth involvement in drugs and substance abuse by providing engaging, meaningful activities. By offering youth opportunities to participate in sports and learn from inspiring role models, the campaign hopes to foster a positive environment where young people can thrive and stay away from harmful influences.
