Standard Lesotho Bank and Examination Council of Lesotho Strengthen Educational Initiatives with New MoU

Standard Lesotho Bank (SLB) and the Examination Council of Lesotho (ECOL) have entered into a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing educational initiatives in Lesotho. The agreement was unveiled during a formal ceremony attended by key stakeholders from both organizations, underscoring their shared vision to support youth development and educational advancement across the country.

Strategic Objectives of the Collaboration

At the event, Mr. Rethabile Motsoahae, Executive Head of Personal and Private Banking at SLB, and Dr. Mokhitli Khoabane, Chief Executive Officer of ECOL, outlined the primary goals of the partnership. The MoU is designed to create opportunities for students to gain a better understanding of the academic and professional landscape, and to empower them with the tools they need to succeed in their future careers.

The collaboration will focus on youth empowerment, career guidance, and education development, with specific initiatives aimed at strengthening the capacity of young people in Lesotho to meet both local and global challenges.

SLB’s Commitment to Youth Empowerment

In his address, Mr. Motsoahae emphasized SLB’s unwavering commitment to the development of Lesotho’s youth, noting that the bank has consistently prioritized this area since 2022. He highlighted several initiatives the bank has already undertaken, including the Future Flex project, which focuses on helping students explore career paths, as well as the National Career Expo. The expo, which has provided students with exposure to a variety of academic and professional opportunities, serves as a key platform for career guidance and personal growth.

Mr. Motsoahae also reiterated that the partnership with ECOL would build on these existing efforts by providing more resources and support for educational development, thereby enabling young people to access a wider range of opportunities in both academics and professional sectors.

A Vision for a Brighter Future

Dr. Khoabane of ECOL also spoke at the ceremony, expressing the council’s enthusiasm about the partnership with SLB. He stressed the importance of collaboration between key sectors to foster a brighter future for Lesotho’s youth. The partnership, he said, would help expand access to quality education, improve exam readiness, and support career development initiatives that directly impact students’ futures.

The MoU sets the stage for a series of joint efforts aimed at improving the educational landscape in Lesotho, from enhancing exam preparation to providing career guidance and support for youth seeking further studies or professional pathways.

This partnership between Standard Lesotho Bank and the Examination Council of Lesotho signals a significant step forward in the country’s efforts to build a skilled and empowered workforce. As both organizations continue to work together, their initiatives are expected to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young Basotho, providing them with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

Through this collaboration, SLB and ECOL are not only strengthening their commitment to the educational sector but also playing an active role in shaping the future of Lesotho’s youth.
