Meet Liteboho Tebo-tebo Mphoso, one member of the 2024 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders cohort heading to the United States soon. Liteboho, hailing from the district of Berea in Lesotho, is a distinguished legal professional with a Master’s Degree in International Trade Law. Her expertise and dedication have led her to serve as a Crown Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers at the Ministry of Justice, Law, and Parliamentary Affairs.
In her role, Liteboho focuses on civil litigation, providing legal advice to various ministries, and vetting government contracts. Her commitment to the rule of law and justice has made her a pivotal figure in Lesotho’s legal landscape.
Liteboho will be hosted by Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, under the Leadership in Public Management track of the Mandela Washington Fellowship. This prestigious program will offer her an invaluable opportunity to enhance her leadership skills and learn best practices in ensuring access to justice, protecting human rights, and engaging the public in public service.
Through the fellowship, Liteboho hopes to gain insights into innovative leadership strategies and effective public management practices. Her goal is to return to Lesotho with a wealth of knowledge that will enable her to drive meaningful change in her country. Specifically, she aims to advance the protection of human rights and bridge the gap of access to justice through information dissemination and challenging self-harming beliefs and norms.
Upon completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Liteboho plans to leverage her new skills and knowledge to foster a more just and equitable society in Lesotho. She envisions a future where legal frameworks are robust and accessible to all, ensuring that every citizen can exercise their rights and freedoms fully.
