Minister Nthati Moorosi Advances Africa’s Digital Agenda at G20 DEWG Ministerial Meeting

Honourable Nthati Moorosi, Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation of Lesotho, represented the African Union at the G20 Digital Economy Working Group Ministerial Meeting held in Cape Town on 29 September 2025. As the AU Head of Delegation and Chair of the Specialized Technical Committee on Communication and Information Communication Technologies, she advanced key discussions on digital inclusion, digital public infrastructure, innovation ecosystems, and responsible artificial intelligence.
Minister Moorosi emphasized the importance of connectivity for inclusive digital development. She highlighted the need to bridge the digital divide by ensuring equitable access to digital technologies across all African nations. The Minister underscored the necessity of robust digital public infrastructure to support sustainable development, advocating for investments in digital platforms that facilitate public services, enhance governance, and promote transparency.
She also called for the development of innovation ecosystems that support micro, small, and medium enterprises, emphasizing the role of digital technologies in fostering entrepreneurship and economic growth across the continent. Minister Moorosi highlighted the African Union’s commitment to responsible AI development, advocating for ethical AI practices that respect human rights and promote social good.
Through her leadership at the G20 DEWG Ministerial Meeting, Minister Moorosi reinforced Africa’s commitment to digital transformation and sustainable development.
