Mokhameleli Electrification Project Nears Completion, Bringing Power to Hundreds

Residents of Ha Mokhameleli will soon see their long-time struggle for electricity come to an end, as the Mokhameleli Electrification Project in the Qomoqomong area nears completion. The project, expected to be finalized by the end of this month, will provide much-needed power connectivity to the community, transforming the daily lives of many.
The initiative, implemented by a private construction company under the Lesotho Electricity Company (LEC), will benefit three villages—Ha Bulara, Ha Mokhameleli, and Ha Elia. According to the Community Councilor for Ha Elia, Mr. Thabang Matsoso, the electrification project will supply power to 460 households, a local primary school, and several churches.
Matsoso further highlighted that the project has also created temporary employment for 20 local laborers since its commencement in November last year, contributing to economic activity within the communities. He noted that while Ha Mokhameleli and Ha Bulara fall under Quthing Urban Council, Ha Elia is part of the Qomoqomong Community Council.
The completion of the electrification project marks a significant milestone for the residents, who have long awaited access to reliable electricity. Once operational, the power grid will enhance living conditions, improve educational facilities, and create opportunities for business growth in the area.
