In an effort to unite producers across different sectors, the Berea Business Forum (BBF) has announced that preparations are underway to officially launch their marketplace next Thursday near the Teyateyaneng woolshed. This initiative aims to provide a dedicated trading space for local businesses, artisans, and farmers to showcase and sell their products.
BBF Secretary General, Mrs. Mamoratuoa Nts’ekhe, confirmed the development during an interview on Monday, emphasizing that securing a marketplace has been a long-standing challenge for the forum. After years of searching for a suitable location, BBF has finally acquired a site adjacent to a funeral parlour and the Teyateyaneng woolshed. To celebrate this milestone, a special market day will be held at the newly designated venue.
According to Mrs. Nts’ekhe, the launch of the marketplace is a game-changer for businesses in Berea. She explained that many local producers have struggled with finding consistent and accessible spaces to sell their goods, leading to financial instability and limited business growth. The new marketplace is expected to bridge this gap by providing a stable environment where producers can trade regularly, attract more customers, and expand their businesses.
The upcoming market day is expected to bring together a diverse range of vendors, including farmers, fashion designers, food processors, and crafters. It will serve as a platform for businesses to connect with potential buyers while fostering collaboration among entrepreneurs. Additionally, the event will allow small businesses to gain exposure, build networks, and create long-term economic opportunities.
Mrs. Nts’ekhe further highlighted that BBF envisions the marketplace as more than just a commercial space. The forum aims to create a business hub that encourages skills exchange, mentorship, and economic empowerment for local entrepreneurs. She urged community members to support the initiative by attending the market day and purchasing locally produced goods.
As anticipation builds for the launch, BBF remains optimistic that the new marketplace will be a stepping stone toward strengthening the business sector in Berea, promoting self-sufficiency, and driving economic development in the region.
