Melele Skyblast Festival Faces Fallout After Sannere No-Show
Three days after the much-anticipated Melele Skyblast Festival, event organizers and the master of ceremonies are still grappling with the fallout from a highly disappointing no-show by popular artist Relebohile Monaphathi, better known as Sannere. The event, which took place on November 9, 2024, was supposed to feature a star-studded line-up, with Sannere being one of the major headliners. However, the artist’s failure to perform left many ticket holders frustrated and disillusioned.
Ticket prices for the festival ranged from M60 for early bird tickets, M80 for general admission, and M100 at the gate. Despite the varying price points, attendees had high expectations for the event, especially with the promise of Sannere’s performance. Unfortunately, the artist did not show up, leaving festival-goers to question the quality and organization of the event.
Tlhokomelo Sekhotla, one of the event organizers, addressed the issue, revealing that all necessary arrangements had been made to accommodate an artist of Sannere’s stature. Sekhotla confirmed that the event organizers had been in constant communication with Sannere’s management, and everything seemed to be in order two days before the event. A time slot for Sannere’s performance had been confirmed, with the artist scheduled to perform at multiple locations on the same day, including Maseru, Quthing, and Qacha’s Nek.
“We made all the necessary preparations for his performance,” Sekhotla said. “Everything was confirmed, and we had no indication that something would go wrong. We were shocked when he didn’t show up.”
The festival’s MC, who had been hyping up the crowd in anticipation of Sannere’s performance, also expressed disappointment, citing the artist’s absence as a significant blow to the event’s overall success.
As of now, the reasons behind Sannere’s failure to perform remain unclear. His management has yet to issue a public statement, leaving fans and event organizers alike in the dark. The artist’s no-show has sparked a wave of online criticism, with many fans taking to social media to voice their frustration. Some questioned the reliability of the artist, while others raised concerns about the lack of transparency from both the artist’s team and the festival organizers.
Despite the setback, the Melele Skyblast Festival did feature a number of talented performers, and many attendees were still able to enjoy the event, but the absence of a major headliner cast a shadow over the festival’s success.
With no official explanation from Sannere’s camp, it remains to be seen what steps will be taken to address the disappointment felt by fans. Organizers are reportedly working to resolve the issue and are hopeful for better communication with artists in the future. However, for now, the 2024 Melele Skyblast Festival will be remembered not for its high points but for the absence of one of its biggest stars.
