Chieftainess Mats’enolo Bereng Applauds Government’s Commitment to Fighting Corruption
In a recent interview with the Agency, Chief of Reserve Chieftainess Mats’enolo Bereng praised the government’s commitment to combat corruption through the hiring of additional staff for the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO). She emphasized that this initiative is crucial for ensuring that the DCEO can perform its duties effectively, thereby reinforcing the government’s stance against corruption.
Chieftainess Mats’enolo made these remarks during a two-day training session for District Anti-Corruption Committees (DACC) held for members from Mafeteng, Mohale’s Hoek, and Quthing. This training aimed to equip community leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to address corruption within their jurisdictions.
While commending the government’s actions, Chieftainess Mats’enolo also reminded the committee members of their roles and responsibilities. She stressed that although they are involved in anti-corruption efforts, they are not employees of the DCEO. Instead, they are community leaders who must engage with the public respectfully and professionally. “It is essential that you do not intimidate people but rather carry yourselves with dignity and integrity,” she advised.
