Teboho Sello Achieves Top Ten Finish in 97th Comrades Marathon

The 97th edition of the Comrades Marathon, a race no Lesotho runner has ever won, saw Teboho Sello finish in eighth position as a runner from the Netherlands outran the rest of the competitors to the finish on Sunday morning in Pietermaritzburg.

Sello was among the hopefuls vying for the elusive Comrades ultra-marathon title in the up-ran race, which started in Durban and concluded in Pietermaritzburg, the coastal cities in the KwaZulu/Natal province of South Africa.

This is not the first time Sello has finished in the top 10 of this historic race, which attracts the best runners from around the globe. However, his eighth-place finish marks the best performance by a Lesotho runner in this prestigious event.

Despite falling short of victory, Sello’s impressive finish underscores the determination of runners from the mountain kingdom, who will undoubtedly strive for better results in future editions of the Comrades Marathon.
