Setsoto Stadium Refurbishment Faces Delays Due to Funding Issues

The refurbishment of Setsoto Stadium has been a hot topic for a long time, especially after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banned the facility for not meeting international standards. This ban has forced Likuena to play their home games outside the country, causing much frustration among fans and officials alike.

When approached to shed some light on the refurbishment timeline, Acting Director of Sports in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Khotso Patsa, explained that the Ministry relies on funds made available by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.

Patsa emphasized that once these funds are secured, the refurbishment will begin immediately. He noted that the cost of upgrading Setsoto Stadium has significantly increased. Based on information from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the estimated costs have risen from M20 million to M70 million.

The substantial rise in refurbishment costs highlights the urgent need for financial support to restore Setsoto Stadium to meet international standards and allow Likuena to play their home games within Lesotho once again.
