LNFOD Elects New Executive Committee to Advance Disability Rights and Empowerment

The Lesotho National Federation of Organisations of the Disabled (LNFOD) has elected a new Executive Committee tasked with advancing the Federation’s mission of promoting the rights, participation, and empowerment of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs). LNFOD Executive Director, Mr. Rabasotho Moeletsi, said the committee was chosen over the weekend during a conference that brought together delegates from eight Disabled People’s Organisations under LNFOD. The conference aimed to report achievements, discuss challenges, elect a new committee, and map the Federation’s path forward.
Mr. Moeletsi described the new team of 16 members as a demonstration of strong commitment to inclusive leadership, advocacy, and empowerment for PWDs. He noted that the committee will work closely with the Federation to achieve its objectives, provide financial accountability to donors, and explore new funding opportunities. The committee includes Mrs. Site Khomoea Majoe Kinela as Chairperson, two Vice Chairpersons, a Secretary General and Vice Secretary General, a Treasurer, a Publicity Secretary and Vice Publicity Secretary. Four members represent Gender, Youth, Underrepresented Communities, and Women, while four additional members serve as advisory members.
Addressing reports trending on social media regarding alleged corruption investigations within a disability organisation, Mr. Moeletsi declined to comment on specific cases. He emphasized that LNFOD maintains a clear anti-corruption mandate and supports all actions taken against individuals involved in corrupt practices. Chairperson Mrs. Khomoea Majoe Kinela pledged to lead by example, uphold the Federation’s mission, and build on the achievements of the outgoing committee. She said the team will identify weaknesses, convert them into opportunities, and foster teamwork to strengthen LNFOD’s impact.
LNFOD’s Executive Committee is elected every four years, and the newly elected team will serve until 2030, guiding the Federation in its continued efforts to empower PWDs and promote inclusive leadership across Lesotho.
