Phechela Primary School Showcases Agricultural Innovation Under Visionary Leadership

The District Education Manager, Mrs. Mahlompho Shaabe from the Ministry of Education and Training, emphasized the importance of working with visionary individuals during the Phechela Primary School Agricultural Products Display held on Tuesday. The event highlighted various methods of crop production and the school’s efforts to protect and maintain its agricultural plots. Mrs. Shaabe praised the school for safeguarding these resources against misuse, reinforcing the value of responsibility and sustainability in education.

During the visit, Mrs. Shaabe revealed that the school has maintained a safe environment for students and staff. She confirmed that she has never received reports of teachers assaulting children or engaging in conflicts with colleagues. This positive record, she noted, reflects the school’s commitment to discipline, respect, and a safe learning environment. She extended her congratulations to the school management for aligning with the Ministry’s motto, “The Mafeteng We Want: Leaving No One Behind”.

The District Education Manager explained that the motto underscores the need for quality education for all children, starting from Early Childhood Care and Development. She emphasized that teaching children practical skills and resilience ensures they can thrive even during difficult times. Mrs. Shaabe highlighted that education must equip students with tools to survive, innovate, and contribute to their communities.

Mrs. Shaabe also commended the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition for its support in guiding schools toward self-reliance in food production. She encouraged other schools to follow Phechela Primary School’s example by cultivating crops and raising livestock. “There are no donations to rely on. It is high time that all schools produce food for a healthier generation,” she stated. The event reinforced the Ministry’s commitment to combining education with practical agricultural skills, ensuring students receive knowledge that benefits both their personal development and community well-being.
