UNFPA Strengthens Partnership with Lesotho’s Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development

The Country Representative for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Mr. John Mosoti, met with Lesotho’s Minister of Gender, Youth and Social Development to discuss strengthening partnerships, key priorities, and potential collaborative initiatives.

During the meeting, Minister Kennedy acknowledged the value of the engagement and emphasized that UNFPA remains a steadfast partner for the ministry. He highlighted that the work of both organizations aligns closely, particularly in empowering women, girls, and young people.

Minister Kennedy praised the government’s ongoing efforts in youth empowerment, noting that UNFPA recognizes the potential of youth as agents of positive change in the country.

As part of future collaboration, Mr. Kennedy proposed developing youth centres that provide dedicated spaces for young people to access essential services. These centres would offer comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information, life skills training, and entrepreneurship opportunities, creating an environment that supports personal growth and community development.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both UNFPA and the Ministry to work together on initiatives that strengthen youth engagement, gender equality, and social development across Lesotho.
