Minister Pitso Lesaoana Hosts World Vision Delegates Ahead of Second World Summit for Social Development

The Honourable Minister of Gender, Youth, and Social Development, Mr. Pitso Lesaoana, welcomed delegates from World Vision at the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the United Nations in New York. The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration and finalize preparations for the Second World Summit for Social Development (SWSSD).

The summit, scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, from 4 to 6 November 2025, will bring together global leaders, policymakers, and civil society representatives to address pressing social development issues. Discussions during the meeting in New York focused on the planned activities and initiatives that Lesotho intends to highlight at the summit.

Minister Lesaoana used the occasion to outline the Ministry’s top priorities. These include advancing gender equality, empowering youth through sustainable development programs, and strengthening social protection systems across the country. The Minister emphasized the importance of partnerships with organizations like World Vision in implementing impactful programs that address social inequalities and promote inclusive development.

World Vision delegates expressed their commitment to supporting Lesotho’s agenda at the summit and exploring collaborative projects that can yield long-term benefits for vulnerable communities. Both parties agreed on the need for strategic engagement and effective advocacy to ensure that Lesotho’s social development goals are represented and advanced at the global level.
