Lesotho Hosts Integrated Senior Mission Leadership Course on Peace Support Operations

Yesterday marked the official opening of the Integrated Senior Mission Leadership (ISML) Course in Peace Support Operations, taking place from 29 September to 10 October 2025 at the Global Guest House in Naleli, Berea. The course is hosted by the Southern African Development Community Regional Peacekeeping Training Centre in collaboration with the Kingdom of Lesotho.
The programme brings together 65 participants from SADC Member States, including representatives from the civilian, military, police, and corrections sectors. This diverse group reflects the critical cross-section of leadership required for effective peace support operations.
The course aims to strengthen participants’ understanding of the roles and responsibilities of senior mission leaders within SADC, African Union, and United Nations peace support operations. It focuses on enhancing coordination, operational planning, and the effective implementation of mission mandates.
This initiative highlights Lesotho’s commitment to peace and security in Southern Africa and beyond. By hosting such a regional programme, Lesotho reinforces its role in supporting capacity building, leadership development, and regional stability in peacekeeping efforts.
